Frequently Asked Questions
Panchang is the traditional Hindu almanac that provides five key elements (Pancha = five, Ang = limbs): Tithi (lunar day), Nakshatra (lunar mansion), Yoga (auspicious combination), Karana (half of tithi), and Var (weekday). It helps determine auspicious times for religious ceremonies, starting new ventures, and important life events according to Vedic astrology.
HinduLab uses precise astronomical algorithms based on the Swiss Ephemeris and astronomy-engine library to calculate planetary positions. Our calculations account for your exact location and timezone, providing accuracy within minutes for all muhurtas, sunrise/sunset times, and planetary transits.
Choghadiya divides each day and night into 8 periods called "muhurtas". Each period is ruled by a planet and has a specific quality: Shubh (auspicious), Labh (gain), Amrit (nectar), Char (movement), Rog (disease), Kaal (death), and Udveg (anxiety). Use auspicious periods for important activities like starting a journey, signing contracts, or beginning new projects.
