Significance

Vrat Katha (Sacred Story)
King Indrasena's father died and went to hell due to his sins. The king was deeply troubled and sought advice from sage Narada. The sage told him about Indira Ekadashi and its power to liberate ancestors.
The king observed the fast with complete devotion and donated the merit to his father. On that very night, his father appeared in a dream, freed from hell and radiant with divine light. He thanked his son and departed for higher realms.
Lord Krishna explained to Yudhishthira that this Ekadashi has the power to liberate 21 generations of ancestors and grant them moksha, regardless of their past deeds.
