About This Shivaratri
Masik Shivaratri occurs on Krishna Paksha Chaturdashi (14th day of the waning moon) every month. It is a monthly opportunity to connect with Lord Shiva's transformative energy through fasting, night vigil, and sacred rituals. The most significant observance is Maha Shivaratri in Magha/Phalguna month.

Masik Shivaratri provides devotees a monthly opportunity for spiritual purification and connection with Shiva's cosmic energy. The night vigil (Jagaran) is divided into four prahars, with Shiva puja performed in each. The Nishita Kaal (midnight period) is considered the most auspicious time for worship. Maha Shivaratri is the supreme observance when Lord Shiva performed the cosmic Tandava dance.
