Personal Preparation

The five sacred stories of Satyanarayana Puja are integral to the worship. Each story illustrates the power of devotion and the consequences of neglecting or disrespecting the Lord. 1. The Brahmin's Devotion
A poor Brahmin regularly prayed to Lord Vishnu. Lord Satyanarayana appeared and advised him to perform this puja on every Purnima. Following the guidance, his life transformed with prosperity.

2. The Merchant's Prosperity

Traditional Prasad Preparation
Classic Satyanarayana Prasad (Sheera/Halwa)
Ingredients
- 1 cup Semolina (Sooji/Rava)
- 1 cup Sugar (or jaggery)
- 1 cup Pure ghee
- 2 cups Milk
- 2 cups Water
- Almonds, raisins, cashews
- Cardamom powder, saffron
Method
- Heat 3/4 cup ghee in heavy-bottomed pan
- Fry dry fruits until golden, set aside
- Add semolina, roast until aromatic (5-7 mins)
- Boil water and milk together separately
- Slowly add hot liquid to semolina, stirring
- Add sugar, cardamom, saffron
- Cook until thick, add remaining ghee
- Garnish with fried dry fruits
Tip: Cook should chant mantras while preparing. No tasting until offered to deity. Can be prepared 2-3 hours before puja.
