Ekadashi-safe ingredients

  • Roasted peanuts
  • Jaggery
  • Ghee
  • Cardamom if allowed

Method

  1. Remove peanut skins after roasting.
  2. Pulse peanuts coarsely.
  3. Warm jaggery with a little ghee until soft enough to bind.
  4. Mix peanuts and cardamom into the jaggery.
  5. Shape into small laddus while warm.

Tradition caveat

Peanuts are common in several regions, but a few families avoid them; use almonds or dates only if accepted locally.

Nutrition note

Peanut laddu is dense and filling, so a small piece is enough for most modified fasts.

Serving note

Useful as a small prasad-style sweet or travel-friendly vrat snack.

FAQs

Can I use sugar instead of jaggery?

Yes, if your household allows sugar. Jaggery is common but not mandatory.

Are peanuts always allowed?

No. They are commonly used, but still tradition-dependent in some families.
